As of 2005, it is the 13th largest bank in the United States.  Key Bank is owned by KeyCorp, which was formed in 1994 through the merger of Society Corp. of Cleveland ("Society Bank") and Key Bank of Albany, New York, which can trace its roots back to Commercial Bank of Albany (1825). Society Corp. originated as Cleveland's Society for Savings in 1849. KeyCorp is a publicly-traded stock on the New York Stock Exchange.
